I’m not going to make any friends by posting this, but perhaps shaming researchers will lead to some reform in the social sciences. Below is an embedded spreadsheet listing studies I have read (so, definitely not exhaustive) that either exclude effect sizes from the paper entirely, include them but don’t use them correctly, or ignore them. The result is either a paper that doesn’t really tell us much or a finding for the null that isn’t framed that way because the authors focus exclusively on p-values and ignore effect sizes.
If you find similar articles, feel free to send them to me so I can add them to The List of Meaningless Research.
